Dr. Hsu's Short CV

Bio

Dr. Hsu is the chairman of the CIS department. He has held visiting positions at MIT, Boston University, Taiwan University, Tsinghau University (Hsinchu, Taiwan), BiMBA program (at Peking University, Beijing, China and Fordham University) and DIMACS (Rutgers University, NJ). He has also been Endowed Chair Professor at Keio (as IBM Chair Professor; Tokyo, Japan) and JAIST (as Komatsu Chair Professor; Kanazawa, Japan). Dr. Hsu received his B.S. degree from Cheng Keng University (Taiman, Taiwan). M.S. degrees from UTEP and RPI, and Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan. Dr. Hsu has authored/co-authored 3 books, edited/co-edited 19 special issues and conference proceedings and authored/co-authored over 100 papers and articles on journals, book chapters, and proceedings. Dr. Hsu is also the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Interconnection Networks.

Research

Dr. Hsu's research interests include combinatorics, algorithms, and optimization; networking theory, computational learning theory, and informatics; biomedical information, information retrieval, information and knowledge management, data mining, multi-sensor and multi-source fusion; and information technology and telecommunication infrastructure and implementation strategy.
