Computer Science graduate students Tsung-Ming Liu and Dagan Harrington at the request of Cody Arcuri from Fordham's Office of Student Leadership and Julie Fissigner Director of the President's Council, organized some cool robotics demonstrations for a group of elementary school children from the Hour Children organization. Liu and Harrington, who are both research assistants working with Dr. Damian Lyons on federally sponsored robotics research, explained how math and science topics from school relate to robotics and set up some hands-on experience for their visitors using some of the 16 Pioneer 3-AT mobile robots used for research in the robotics lab. Hour Children's mission is to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children successfully rejoin the community, reunify with their families, and build healthy, independent and secure lives ( hourchildren.org ).
